The free boiler scheme will improve energy efficiency, reduce your gas bills. You will be also be contributing to reducing the UK carbon footprint.
As part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) scheme, boiler grants are being allocated throughout the UK, available to many home owners in England, Scotland and Wales. Energy suppliers will install a free replacement, energy efficient boiler in qualifying households.
The energy suppliers installing the boilers depends on the location and type of property but the householder does not need to be an existing customer as their obligation extends to all UK households.
The scheme provides Government funding for energy-efficient, condensing boilers, which reduce carbon emissions and can save around £300 per year on your fuel bills. This is part of the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) scheme or “Affordable Warmth” which is aimed at addressing fuel poverty in across the UK.
The boilers have an efficiency rating of A which will heat your property and hot water using less fuel, therefore reducing your home energy costs.

FAQ'S
Do I need a survey?
Yes. ECO4 grant measures require a survey. There is no charge for the survey and they usually only take about an hour*.
Why do the energy companies provide this?
The big 6 energy companies are obliged by the Government to make UK homes more efficient by offering grants and incentives to households. If they fail to meet these targets they receive hefty fines.
Do I need to contact my current utility provider?
No. Different energy companies offer different schemes to different locations and to complicate things further they change as targets are assessed. There is no incentive for energy suppliers to help their existing customers, they are just required to offer funding.
Are there any extra costs?
There may be depending on the property and your circumstances. Your local assessor will advise the current level of grant funding available in your area.
