The material immobilises the air within the cavity, which prevents convection, and can substantially reduce the space heating costs of your home.

The solid walls result in extremely poor insulation, and they’re commonly found in homes built before the 1990s.
One of the ways to improve the energy efficiency is by protecting the outside of the walls. Protecting your walls externally is effectively the same as protecting your home with an invisible jacket. The brickwork of the solid wall is protected from cold-bridging.
Cold-bridging occurs when the cold air outside, is transferred through the wall. By preventing cold air transfer, you increase thermal efficiency.
